DO you have a link for those please?

www.united.com. I searched for Dublin - San Francisco.

sample dates: feb 10 - feb 15. must include a Saturday night

DUB-JFK-SFO-LHR-DUB for $377. Try to route back via JFK-DUB for lower fares.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,699 ✭✭✭samhail

    $377 is about €270.
thats not a bad price for return tickets to san fran ! :)

Thanks teresasaunt ! might look into this.

I was lucky enough to fly united to chicago from dub to philly.
when i got off the plane at philly EVERY SINGLE UNITED FLIGHT HAD BEEN CANCELLED. so I was stuck in philly, when I eventually went to the customer care desk * with 3 people for over 100 flights , they told me I would have to run the length of philly airport to try get on a seperate flight. Apparently this happens all the time with united and cancellations happen a lot more frequently then you can imagine, I got so peeved off that I flew southwest to chicago for 80 dollars and told united to go f themselves.
The united customer care actually make ryanair look like they are the best with customer relations.
Never again will I use united. Dont mean to sound like I am spamming but AA.com have better deals usually. Good luck to anyone that booked with united though, you might need it;)

Would have to highlight above poster. Don't get too click happy with united unless your flight is solely carried by Aer lingus. Found San Fran recently for e302 from shannon round trip on travelpaths.ie

*edit* flight above is with continental

On Friday night I booked 6 return flights to Seattle next September for USD430 each . . which is an incredible price. Soon after booking the flights the prices went up to 580, then 840 and now they're up to USD1095 each!!

So I would advise to click through fully to make sure the price you first see is the price you actually pay.

I have flown United between the US and Japan at least 10 times and have never had a single problem with them. From my experience, out of all the airlines I have flown, United are probably one of the best, if not the best (NWA being the absolute worst).

Availability for some of the cheap deal dates is limited. Booked a couple of seats for New York in March (via cheaptickets.com - but the same United/Aerlingus flightshare) the day before yesterday - worked out at about €250 a return seat. Price for the same dates has shot up about $200 in the last two days - leaving aerlingus.com as the cheaper option.

Still - a week in San Diego next September for €305 isn't to be sniffed at!

    I need help!!!

I currently have 2 flights for 320euro to vegas but everytime i go to pay for them it wont let me change country on the credit card page(for eg if i go through uk site its stuck on UK and same for US site stuck on america with no option to change!) any one have same problem?i have them on hold till 12 tonight so hoping to get them at that price, any help greatly appreciated!

    Cheers

I have successfully booked flights on the UK site.
Just put in your normal Irish address and use 000000 as your postcode.

    Worked OK for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,255 ✭✭✭POKERKING

    thanks will try that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,255 ✭✭✭POKERKING

no it wont work, the problem lies when i go to pay as id imagine when they check my credit card as registered in ireland it fails, it keeps failing saying my credit card cannot be verified as theres no option to change it to uk and United airlines dont have an irish site essentially making it impossible for irish customers to book flights with irish credit card. anyone else have similar problems?ill be gutted if i miss out!

I successfully booked flights on the UK site last night with my B of I Mastercard.

Are you sure you are using the correct billing address of your credit card ?
Is that why it is failing verification?

I put in my full Irish CC billing address, left the country as UK, and like i say i put in 000000 for postcode.

    Worked first time.

Just call your credit card issuer and have a US address added as a second 'billing address' / a 'delivery address' - most Irish credit card issuers will do that if you explain the reason to them. All that happens is that a second address is added to your details so that when a vendor (i.e. United) processes the details they see you've given a valid address.

Yeah i did exactly as you said and it failed 3 times, on the 3rd occaison it wouldnt let me do it again, provisionally booked the seats for me(for 24hrs) and then gave me a number that looks like a UK freephone number that cant be contacted from here, ive lost the will to live at this stage!!!

Does anyone know of a direct email or phone number that they can be contacted from here?theres not much info on there site, goin to give there uk reservations a call later but have a feeling thats for new reservations and not for inquries or anything, i have a reference number and flights provisionally booked but just not paid for and i have 24 hrs from yesterday to contact them to pay for them!

I've booked an internal US flight on the unitedairlines.co.uk site before with an Irish CC and address, didn't have any problems. Just leave the country as 'United Kingdom' and put 'Ireland' somewhere else in the address if it isn't an obvious one.

Yes just left UK address in and filled out the rest of my address with 000000 as postcode, worked for me.....

I flew with United to LA last month and had no problems at all paying with an irish credit card.
I'd also add that I had no problems with flight cancellations etc either, the flight from heathrow to philly was practically empty and the plane was great, the other legs of my journey however were on ryanair like planes (including te return from philly to dublin).
One thing to bear in mind is that their overhead luggage compartments fill up really quickly (because of the size of carry on luggage allowed on US planes), so try and get on the plane asap or they'll take your carry on luggage off you and put it in the hold.
All in all, the prices were great, staff were friendly and I've no complaints.

stlii no joy, had credit card company on to me today aswell and missed a call from united airlines asking me to call them back(they never left a number), its very strange alright, credit card company said they tried to charge 850€ to my card(should of been £600GBP) so the issue could revolve around that, credit card company gave me the ok to try it again, tried it and it didnt work, goan ring them later on a number i found(dont think its right number but ill sure they will giv me the right number!)

    thanks for your help anyway

Just looked over my tickets, I paid in euro, €400 odd per person for return flights to LA, bear in mind that the dollar was stronger then, thus pushing up the euro price.
I booked through this site afaik:

Not 100% sure what it means, but its not an extra charge. Most airline bookings with have a big long string of codes at the end of it like this:

FL RESTRCD/CHG BA 100 EUR CNX BA 15000 INR

They usually relate to the endorsements or restrictions on the booking, such as no refunds or name changes allowed, etc.

Anyone know what the story is with infants? the only option seems to be to add a child between 2-11

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 727 ✭✭✭C.O.Y.B.I.B

Infants are normally a nominal charge , usually approx 10% of Adult Fare , unless you want a seat for them in which case its more expensive about 50% or so depending on the airline . If going for the "on lap 10%" option you need to call the airline after you've booked your own seats. Have done this already for a flight to Chicago earlier his year.

    Hope this helps
