    Hi there

Myself and my fiance are looking at getting married in Italy in Sept 09.

We are looking at the Amalfi Coast (ravello, amalfi, sorrento) , tuscany and/or the cilento coast....

We are being quoted high prices and just wanted to know 2 things if anyone has done this before:
    1. Have people used a local wedding planner or an Irish company or done it themselves?
    2. Roughly what was the average cost per head?

Most of the quotes we are getting includes the wine and cake but is more expensive than getting married at home....

Would be delighted to hear peoples experiences and where to start!!!
    Cheers

Hi there, was at a wedding in Sorrento in june 07. The wedding was organised by Lisa Crotty, Amore Weddings. This is an Irish company who specialise in weddings in Italy and they were absolutly brilliant, from recommending accomodation for both wedding party and guests to djs to venues suitable for your requirements. We went for a week (our summer hols) and had a brilliant time, would love to go back. Dont know how to add a link but just google 'Amore Weddings'. Hope this is of some help, best of luck!!

    Hi sasadub,

I'm getting married in Positano on the Amalfi Coast inJune and planning it all has been pretty easy so far. I did a lot of research beforehand though so you do need a bit of time at the pc.

As regards prices i've found that the Amalfi Coast is much more expensive than say other parts of Italy or here in Ireland, but for us is much cheaper as we are only having 20 guests and the way i look at it, for the money we are spending 6 people are getting a weeks holiday and it's still much cheaper than a wedding here! (We are paying for our parents to come to so if it's just yourselves it would be even cheaper).

Quotes for dinner i got in this area ranged from about €110 to €130 a head without drinks included but some of the places are fab and the food said to be lovely. The place we have chosen is about €110 plus drinks and an €800 exclusivity fee but it's a champagne reception first then a four course sit-down dinner with wedding cake included so for 20 people it's pretty good.

I did look at Rome and Tuscany first and the prices were a lot cheaper there so if you're having a bigger wedding it might make sense to do that.

As for a wedding planner, i found a local lady who works as a translator who will translate my ceremony (this is a legal requirement) for €100 but has done so much for besides-if you do go down the Positano route i'd recommend using someone like her as she has done all a wedding planner would do at a fraction of the cost.

All in all our wedding for 20 including ceremony, reception and flight s and accomm for 6 is going to cost under €10,000 which i think is pretty good. The wedding itself is costing about €6000.

Best of luck with the planning and let me know if you need any more help!

Hi, Myself & Partner are getting married in June 2009 in a place called Maratea, Italy, Its just under Amalfi coast. 2.5 hours away from Naples Airport. Its a much quieter & less touristy area than Amalfi coast but its still really lovely. We went to see the place last year. Our wedding is in 5 star hotel & its working out 100 Euro per head & thats for 4 courses & half a bottle of wine. We are using a wedding planner, simply because not many people speak English in the area. The company we are using are www.slow-dreams.com & they seem really good so far.
I would definitely recommend you visiting the place before you decide on anything.
    Good Luck

as rarnes1 cant be bothered filling us in what they have heard about slow-dreams I will just let u know about our experience of slow-dreams, myself and my partner visited maratea & met with one of the wedding planners who spend a couple of hours with us showing us different venues, she then met us another day to show us the venue again, she was very accomodating snd had lots of time for us.
Since then we have been dealing with them by email and they have always got back to us within 24 hours. So far, so good. at this stage we have no reason to believe that our wedding wont be a perfect as we think it will be & we are very happy with their service.

Thanks for replying to my post. It's really hard to know how to approach the whole thing isn't it? We're going to a friend's wedding in Italy in May and are hoping to get some inspiration from that and begin our own preparations in earnest then.
