He should be starting ahead of him for the six nations. The time is now right imo,he is 26 and as ready as he will ever be.

Is he potentially too small for international OH? i know he made a lot of tackles today but alot were stringer style, hanging out of the ball carriers ankles type tackles.

I know ROG isnt a defensive pillar but he has improved a lot.

I do agree though. Humps should be number 2 OH. deserves a run out in Rome/Edinburgh...

Humphs should be number 1 O'Gara has shown nothing in a green shirt for ages. As i keep saying its time to start moving the old guard out from the starting line up and into the bench. O'Gara should get the axe and end up in the match day 22.

Humphs missed a few kicks tonight though. But on current form he's still superior to o'gara in every other aspect of his game.

Bit harsh on O'gara? I know he was kack against NZ. but in the 6n last year, he was alright compared to most other players.

The more I think about it the more I can;t believe ROG started against Canada in the autumn.

Oh yeah, and I worry that Humps kicking range would not be sufficient for internationals. Especially on a big pitch like Croke Park..

He has been impressive everytime he took the field. Was also a valuable player for Leicester.
A definite choice for bench on the Irish side.

Time to start him I think he needs that valuable experience in time for the World Cup of which ROG has already stated he doesnt think he will be around for.

Besides, Humphries is undoubtfully our in form outhalf right now, lets play him.

Thats technically a great way for the smaller man or any man to make his tackles.

Go mid height and you risk a hand off, too high, shoulder area and you can easily be shrugged or rolled off.

A good grasp on one ankle and hes gotta go down, or look for the pass, good grasp around both and down like a sack o spuds.

    Good old classic tackle.

Having said that how many bad games can ROG play before is dropped based on his own form.

BOD is being shouted to be dropped, as he is not being perceived to be the treat he once was, however he is not a Defensive liability, ROG however is, so why persist if he brings nothing positive when off form and is also a risk too boot...

Just saw the result. Well done Ulster.

Folks, a small point but can people show the guy some respect and spell his name correctly? Its Ian Humphreys, not humphries?? It was the same with his brother David. Its not difficult folks...

I have been watching Ulster since start of season and Ian Humphreys is the main reason for Ulsters super backline play. He was been playing consistently well since he came into team and it was at this stage that Ulsters form really started to improve.

His one weakness is his place kicking, he needs to be sent on an intensive kicking course with Mark Tainton. He needs to improve this aspect of his game. He tends to get the more difficult kicks and miss the bread and butter ones. As a result, I think it may be a mental thing as much as anything.

The only way is up for Ulster, Ian Humphreys and Ireland. Its absolutely fantastic to see Ulster on the way back. I think Matt Williams is doing a fantastic job and I knew he would do given time. He was great for Leinster for Leinsters attitude at times let them down when he was in charge.

Providing he stays injury free, Ferris is a shoe in for Ireland. He must be the first name down in back row, ahead of ANY Irish back row player including Wallace, Leamy, Quinlan, Jennings et al......

Paddy Wallace is best no 12 in country, must play alongside O Driscoll. Tom Court is knocking on door as back up prop.

Im looking forward to 6 Nations all of a sudden again, right man in charge, some super young players coming through. Bring it on!!

Extend that the other way. O'Gara has been playing badly how long....?

Anyway, since usupring O'Connor's place Humphreys has looked very good, in a rejuvenated Ulster team.

It's nice to see Ulster have finally gotten it together again. It's only good for Ireland that these guys are putting in performances. As Hump said he wasnt even first place for Ulster so Ireland isnt in his mind yet.

Assuming Ireland continue to play the way they did in the autumn internationals he'll get to play and prove himself worthy or not.
