    Hi Guys,

I am having a problem with the sound on my PC and I was wondering if you could help me.

    I have a Nvidia 680i motherboard with a Realtek ALC885 codec.

I am outputting to an external Yamaha amp through the Spdif port but I am only getting a 2 channel output. When I test the speakers only the front two are being recognised by the set up. I cannot get the centre or rear speakers to work.

Can you guys let me know if there is any way for me to all speakers working and get a 5 channel signal cos I'm tearing my hair out at this stage.

    Thanks a million.

Unless the sound is encoded in Dolby Digital or dts/AC3 such as on a dvd or some video files spdif only transmits stereo. For surround sound in games you need to use the 3x/4x 3.55mm jacks.

    Thanks for the response.

I found a solution to the problem.

All I had to do was download the CCCP codec pack and during installation, on the settings page, under FFDSHOW - AUDIOSETTINGS, select from the drop your relevant speaker set up.

Now my amp will automatically pick up the best available audio track (DTS, Digital, Pro-logic etc) instead of forcing it to play channel stereo on every single movie file.
