Wireless printer as local printer (Samsung CLP-315W)

    Question: can a wireless printer be used as a local printer by connecting the printer directly to the computer via a USB cable?

    Friend has the following:
    • new Dell laptop/notebook (sorry don't have model)
    • Vista o/s
    • Wireless laser printer (Samsung CLP-315W/XEU)
    • wireless connection to internet via Linksys router
    The house also has 2 other residents and the occasional visitor sharing the router .

    She does not want to share the printer She wants it for her use alone, in her room, next to her laptop. Router is downstairs in a shared room. (I do not know why she chose a wireless printer.... ???)

    No USB cable came w/ printer. Network type cable only.

    If she can use a USB cable, are all A to B cables basically the same?

    It has a USB port, so yes she can use it locally (Well, I'd be amazed if anything as part of the spec. stopped it).
    Printers are not typically sold with USB cables (not for many years. The cheap gits.) And yes, any A-B cable should work.
