I've been told this is free to air - is it true? and if possible can I pick this up on my sky box somehow?

    Yes. No.

You need a Freesat/Sat4Free HD box or one of many compatible generic HD FTA boxes.

very few HD programs to watch, most of the time all they have is the ITV HD logo.

Am currently watching Preston V Liverpool on ITV HD using PC with DVBs tuner and DVBDream software. Looks a little jumpy at times compared to BBC HD transmissions though. Is it my PC or transmission? This is first time I've seen a programme on ITV HD Channel.

would say its your cpu not being able to cope! ive found BBc HD will run quite smmothly on my pc with dvbdream but other HD channels a blockydue to CPU running at 100%!

I've had mixed experience on this topic using an hardware=accelerated GPU with H264 and the ATI, Elecard and Cyberlink codecs.

Some tuner software can get the codecs to do HA and some can't.

Lots of CPU is no harm.

But I reckon that the UTV logo should display quite steadily on anything though.
