    howdy all ,happy new year.

Recently I finished resistance 2 and Dead Space. And the fps bug has got me:o .
Never having played any of the call of duties ,I presumed when I got metal gear solid that it would be a good guide to fps's.

Now I'm about to order cod5 ,but is there anything else I should know before I do ? any better games due soon ?

COD 4 > COD 5 I'd say... And Bioshock is another absolutely fantastic FPS. Half Life 2 - The Orange Box is another oldie at this stage but very good (only played the Xbox360 version though so not sure how good the PS3 port is).

Incoming FPSs in 2009 are Killzone 2 and FEAR 2 in February, but it's hard to say if they'll really deliver the goods or disappoint... Killzone 2 especially has had massive hype around it and that doesn't usually end well...

Yep, definitely Bioshock if you haven't already played it.

Dead Space and Metal Gear Solid aren't FPS games, by the way.

Orange Box is just €19.99 in Smyths at the moment.

I need to take stock of what I have so ,one of them games you
mention is one I have already:o (orange box)
My problem is that I'm confusing a good game with a genre ,sorry.

Bioshock is on the shortlist so and thanks for clearing up the difference on them games.

    Definitely don't bother ordering CoD5 until you've played CoD4

Then again, I suppose CoD5 would be more entertaining if you didn't have the brilliance of CoD4 to compare it to...

Resistance 1 is worth a look also

I got RFOM on tuesday from shopto and cleared it before I played resistance 2.
Had both games finshed by thursday night ,fookin great games.
It's suprising how much alike MGS4 and resistance fall of man are ,some of the vehicles/machines are almost identical.

Don't think I will buy Cod4 at the moment ,it seems to be the same price as cod5 still. If the older one is better ,then it's even more to look forward to when the price drops.;)

    Id say
    COD 4
    Half life
    Bioshock
    Cod 5

    for the FPS

Thenthe more 3rd person shooters/ adventure games
    MGS4
    Unchartered
    Alone in the dark inferno.

    R:FOM €10 used in gamestop :D

MGS is a 3rd person shooter, but it is also a fps if you aim down the sights/scope.
Fallout 3 is another good FPS/TPS/Sandbox/Survival horror

Can't wait for Killzone2, it looks great. Hopefully not a hugh dissapointment like the first one. Other than that Bioshock is very good and Fallout 3 is brilliant, though not so much a fps than a rpg. Suppose farcry 2 is worth a look, but cod5 is much better.
