    Howdy,
I'm looking for a matching solid oak dining table and chairs, seating 6 minimum, but must be extendable to seat 8. Want hard wearing thick build quality. Anyone know a store where I might get them? Anywhere in ireland I'm willing to travel, including the North. I live in Dublin.

    Thanks!

Sorry, the IKEA Edefors range is solid oak: see the tables and then the EGON chairs are also solid oak:

Also, M&S have a few oak ranges and a great sale at the moment: Lichfield, Toulouse, Santiago, I presume you could buy in Belfast and transport it down south and still make savings: http://www.marksandspencer.com/gp/node/n/43938030/276-7874226-3817306?amp;mnSBrand=core

    Cheers for the replies,
I had checked IKea but those tables really don't look too sturdy at all. That M&S is a good shout, I'll look into them, thanks for that. Any other ideas?

What kind of chairs do you want?? Oak or leather??

Well, I'd like the chairs to be oak, if they have some leather padding or not doesn't really bother me, either is good.

Harvey Norman have a 5ft square oak table
    with a choice of chairs,
It is a nice change from a rectangle one if
    your room can take it.

    Cost around €1600 a few weeks ago(table & 8 chairs)
might get it for less now,

I bought the table alone as I had chairs.

    Worth a look.

Theres a furniture store outside Ballinagh in Co. Cavan and I bought a oak table with 8 leather chairs ( i think there is different colours - brown, black, red, cream) for €1500 and now the same store has a sale on so you'd get at least 10% off that. Excellent quality table and chairs. It also does solid oak chairs and covered chairs so theres is something there for everyone

Harvey Norman also do a rectangular 6 seater table that extends to 8 in reclaimed oak. The vancouver range they call it. Very sturdy and heavy but the reclaimed style might not be to your liking. Personally I like it, adds some character to the furniture. I've seen it in their stores in Airside and Naas.

dont know what your budget is but if your not affected by the recession Pierson oak is a French company stocked by Flanagans in Mount Merrion
These are the best oak dining sets I have seen really sturdy top quality.

just bought a 6 seater (6 leather chairs) table in Ash. Extendable at each end in the furiture store in palmerstown at the 1st traffic lights if you come off the M50. Good choice of tables and dressers to match.
