Is the only reason not to give a dog or pup chicken bones the danger of choking? I have a chicken carcass that I was planning to boil to soft then blend to make a kong filling out of. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this?

Not sure about the blending, it could be ok. Raw chicken bones are ok but not cooked ones, whole anyway, blending them should be ok.

Not just a choking hazard - my poor Sandy got hold of a cooked chicken bone it got stuck on the way out of his system! Poor mite needed to be put under to have the fragments removed :(

Raw bones are absolutly fine for dogs. Ours eat them on a daily basis (forms the heart of their diet).

The only problem comes from cooked bones as they splinter and shatter more causing the choking risk, and the excretion risk as Bond has mentioned. If they're blended then I suppose they shouldn't pose the same risk, but after being cooked all the good will be gone from them so I don't really see the point in feeding them.
