    Hi All.

Apologies, If this has been asked before. I have a LG 26" TV with a CI slot. After the MPEG2 -> MPEG4 DTT transition I get the audio but no video problem common with failing to decode MPEG4 signals.

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a MPEG4 CI Module and the likely success rate? Are the compatible will all TV manufacturers or should I chase LG for a known working module?

    Many thanks,
    Sean

Wait much close to official launch.

I've tested a Neotion Pocket Duo that has also card slot and ethernet port. It's not fully functional yet, though does do the MPEG4 to MPEg2 conversion. Closer to launch the Neotion module will work better and cheaper, and should allow record/playback via ethernet and optional use of Boxer PayTV card.

There is no public service yet. It's engineering tests till maybe June 2009 or later.

The Neotion Module runs hot and is not as good quality picture as a separate MPEG4 set box, which can have built in dual tuner and HDD recording.

Ive heard a standard conax Mpeg 4 cam will work in tv with a ci slot, Not 100% sure if this is true. (Only the latest conax mpeg4 cams that is).

I am interested in this route as im not 100%sure if my TV has Mpeg 4 capabilities (My TM6900 does though).

Also i have huge concern when the deflector i get my RTE through will turn off ill be left in the dark for Irish TV, If this happens and i have to pay sky for RTE then something is majorly wrong. Ill be paying a tv licence for something i cant recieve.

A TV lincence is a tax on having ability to watch ANY TV channel.

An external Terrestrial set box is cheaper than a TV licence. They will be very much cheaper by June 2009.

Current Conax + MPEG4 (dual function) CAMs do work in many TVs, but are a bad value purchase right now. Wait a few months. There is no official service yet anyway.

If your TV has MPEG4 it will work, otherwise you get sound only. Wait till you get a Digital signal.

Deflectors carrying RTE are extremely unlikely to get turned off unless everyone on it can get a Digital signal. Official main and Relay/Transposer signals run by RTENL will not be turned off until some years after digital. It's only the formerly illegal UK TV carrying "deflectors" that are doomed. All the decent UK channels are free on Satellite.

i would say the digital switchover here will take a long time, I mean look, a lot of the country cant get a decent analogue signal, so chance of them getting a decent digital service is very optomistic!

I'm usng a Neonotion MPEG4 HD VIACCESS Pocket Cam in Cork City centre on a Samsung 26'', it just arrived today in fact. I have a question when I turn on a DTV channel it can take up to 30 seconds for the picture to kick in even when the sound is instant. Also on all stations but RTE2 there is a slight slowdown of picture every so often. Is this just part and parcel of testing, is there a problem with the cam or is there a slight compatability issue with the tv.

Sorry for the noob questions but your post gave me an idea. I'm soon gettin a new samsung hdtv and unfortunately, its mpeg2 tuner only so will this cam work with all samsung tvs do you know??(my model will be the LE40A686).

And another thing, with these cam modules, i'm guessin you just have to plug it in, plug in also the uhf aerial inot the hdtv, and then when you search for channels, you will pick up the mpeg4 trials. Is this the case?? If so its exactly what i'm looking for. Where, may i ask did you get your cam?

    Thanks:)

Well the cam is powered from the slot it's put in on all compatable tvs so no need for external power. I'm new to this whole thing myself but judging by my year old tv there is a very good chance it'll work.

At the moment i'm thinking since they are still testing and slowly rollong out across the country the service won't be 100% until near launch.
