    Hi all,
A very Happy New Year to everybody here on the photography forum.I'd just like to know if possible would anyone happen to know is it possible to do a course in Photoshop CS3 in Waterford? I've bought a book called Essential Skills CS3 but think a course would be better for me.Any help would be greatly appreciated...:)

    Bribe Fajitas!

Seriously I believe someone posted about this before. Might be some useful info in there and a couple of the Deise regulars might have some further comments.

Many thank's Calina.I've just checked the WIT website and downloaded their pdf of courses starting Febuary 2009 but it looks like i'm out of luck.No photoshop course there.Guess it's back to the book, laptop, trial and error...:(

    Okay,

what I would suggest is this. We have a forum called the Digital Darkroom. There are some reasonable tutorials linked there, plus some very knowledgeable users.

What I remember about starting with any image processing software is that it's a bit overwhelming at first.

In your position, I'd hop in there and use it as a place to get advice.

Depending on what you want, Digital Art and Design might be worth a look.

If you have broadband and dont specifically want a qualification or cert, how about lynda.com?

I just got adobe creative suite and it came with 1 month access to lynda.com

Ive been using it for adobe illustrator and have to say I have been pleasantly surprised.

There are lots of tutorials on photoshop and others too.

There are trial videos there to check out.

Its not too dear either, 25 dollars per month I think.

Check it out, I did based on recommendation of someone here.

I find youtube is great for learning stuff. I learnt enough about AutoCAD from it to design a warehouse! I also use it now to learn specific things in photoshop.

Boards is also a great resource. As well as the Digital Darkroom already mentioned there was/is a photoshop type forum here, somewhere. It was called Pix N Mix but it might now be the following one...

Your local library is also a highly underused resource. People seem to forget they exist once they leave collage/school. :(

    gl!

I was doing a job in the "Waterford College Of Further Education" on parnell st. recently(the old Tech). and there was a leaflet pinned to the notice board in the staff room with evening courses on it and there was one called "An introduction to Photoshop". I'm not sure when these courses are starting so if your interested I'd suggest giving them a ring.
