Cold and dry on Saturday with frost and fog gradually clearing through the morning and with bright or sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures of just 3 to 7 degrees.

Planning on leaving maybe 11am Joe Daly's to allow the frost to clear a bit and heading out over the side of Djouce, Roundwood, Laragh, Wicklow Gap and back via Lacken and Bohernabreena.

This is just a suggestion- postpones the highest ground until a bit later when there is less likely to be ice. Depending on conditions a lower still route might be necessary.

I would love to say ' I am in ' ... but I'm still in my cast ( another 2 weeks and 3 days to go )

    I'll be back

    Enjoy the spin!!!!

Indeed, I think all the 8am lunatics will have to wait until the spring.

Hope to see you back soon Caroline; the really cold weather is meant to last for another 2 weeks or so, best time of year to break something.

The title says it all ... missed my 1 point for January by giving up at 88kms. And part of the realisation was that 100km is too much to do on your own ... you get bored .. and it is easier to give up .. was struggling for motivation after 75km and decided it was better to stop than ruin the love of cycling.

Might make to tomorrow's spin for my next attempt at my first 100 for 2009 if Mrs. Short Circuit hasn't made any weekend plans

I really hope I can get out, I have been warned against it but I am feeling better. I'll put my name in the "maybe" box (I call for a rebranding of the "wuss" box for 2009).

I'll let you enjoy the fact that I only did 80km this morning. Had to turn back because of a bit of a blizzard.

108km for me. It was a hilly one, the Wicklow Gap being the centrepiece. 1,604m climbing.

Do you have a link to a google maps version of the route? Hoping to get down to Wicklow once my new bike arrives.

This is the route, it's a bit tricky to plot on Google Maps as Google thinks there is a break in the road between Johnny Foxes and the Devil's Elbow and will not plot down there. I can provide a GPX or a Google Earth KML though if that would be more helpful.

Picture does it thanks. Its over 50K for me to go direct to National Park so I think it'll be another month or two before I'm down that way.

Hey Blorg, like your maps and elevations, impressive, what hardware / software do you use to produce them?

Some spin by the way, that is a century and a half with all of the climbing! Good start to 2009. How long was the spin time wise?

SportTracks and a Garmin Edge 705.
    I use both myself.
