can anyone recommend comedy in the same vain?

I assume you mean the UK Office in your original post, so I have to recommend the USA version. Superior in every way!

    Seinfeld.
    Curb Your Enthusiasm.
    Trailer Park Boys.
    The American Office.

never enjoyed that as much, have the box set tho :)

must get some more american office cheers!

is curb your enthusiasm good? never heard of trailer park boys?

Try The Inbetweeners - what on paper appears as a low-brow knock-off of American Pie is actually very well-written and funny.

Probably along with Gavin & Stacey, the best new British comedy of the last year or two.

    Try Arrested Development.

IMO Curb your enthusiasm is the one of the best comedy series ever produced. If you like Larry David or Seinfeld you will like, or more specifically 'get' Curb.
never heard of trailer park boys?

It's a Canadian show that is show on Paramount from time to time. I think most of the episodes are freely available on YouTube. Very original and absolutely hillarious. If you're not fond of swearing, steer clear!

+1 for Arrested Development - cracking show, such a shame it was cancelled.

    It's Always Sunny in Philidephia.

+1 for "Always Sunny in Philadelphia" - brilliant. "30 Rock" is another good quirky one...

Spaced was good I always thought.

Or the IT Crowd if you haven't already seen it.

Or from across the pond, you could try How I Met Your Mother.

    spaced is legendary....

curb is another fave of mine ! pure class!

    Spaced
    Black Books
    Green Wing
    Big Train
    The IT Crowd
    Jam
    Look Around You.
    Garth Merenghi's Darkplace.
    The Mighty Boosh.
    Brasseye

^ Any of those to be honest! From the dramatic to the downright zany. All there. I find American humour very derivative. It's almost patronising!

While I do agree, I don't think it would suit the tastes consistently of someone over the age of 25.

Curb Your Enthuasiasm is a winner OP. :)

Good shouts on these. I'd add Seinfeld and two and a half men to this.

    House

    Black Books

Just to second a few of those

    The Mighty Boosh
    Spaced
Curb Your Enthusiasm (if you watch nothing else, watch this)

    and one other suggestion

    Flight of the Conchords

This seem to be a thread about old comedies rather then ones currently running.

Paths To Freedom is worth the watch.

    The Mighty Boosh
    The IT Crowd

    The Office
    Entourage
    Curb Your Enthusiasm

I watched AD, its a bit too dumped down

    Operation Good Guys

A lesser known comedy along the format of The Office and No less hilarious.

    How VERY dare you..! :D

'Arrested Development' is a very intelligent sitcom. It's best humour comes from long running jokes and throwbacks to previous episodes / storylines - an extremely well constructed series.

But I wouldn't expect someone who likes the vapid up-it's-own-arse "comedy" of 'Entourage' to understand! ;)

Arrested Development is an excellent comedy series! It's a pity it's finished :(

For a new series, I'll second Big Bang Theory. Very funny in a light way, the gangly guy (I am seriously bad with names) makes the programme.

    I recommend....

    Curb Your Enthusiasm
    Californication

    Two awesome shows!!

    Dont forget

Outnumbered, from the BBC - a briliant new comedy.

and the greatest comedy of all time
    Seinfeld
    and these as well
Curb Your Enthusiasm, The US Office, Extras, Arrrested Development, Gavin and Stacey, Benidorm.

    All very enjoyable shows.

DO NOT WATCH THE BIG BANG THEORY. It is possibly the worst Sit-com to come out of the US. It's portrayal of "geeks" is no better then "Saved by the Bell".

    I now must add

Freak And Geeks, the best teen comedy/drama ever.

If you are looking more for classic sitcoms then how the hell has no-one mentioned the Greats: Only Fools and Horses, Father Ted, Faulty Towers. Maybe ye just asssume the OP has seen these (who hasnt!!)

As for present shows: Entourage, Two and a half men, King of Queens, The Office

    The Thick of It
It's by the writers of Peep Show

A surprisingly large amount of people haven't seen The Larry Sanders Show, best US Sitcom ever in my opinion... heavily influenced the Office

    Marion & Geoff
    Brass Eye
all Alan Partridge(inc. The Day Today)
    Look Around You
hundreds of other things I can't think of
