Hi, I'm a part time worker, coming near the end of my contract. On my contract it says "Expires: 6th January". I personally think that means that on the 6th, my contract is void, thus I don't have to work that day. What do you think?
    Thanks in advance,

    What do you think?

    1. I think you should talk to your manager about this if you haven't already done so.
    2. I think it means you have to work the 6th. You know, like when food "expires" on a certain date, most people would assume that's the last day you should eat it.

Yeh I suppose. Asked manager, she didn't have a clue! I just thought that hopefully it might have been the case that I didn't have to work that day!

    :)

No harm in asking can you finish up on the 5th!

Do you want to continue working there, ie are you hoping that you contract will be extended? Or do you just want to to get the hell out of there, in which case why don't you finish today????

Good referrences are worth their weight in gold these days ....It might be crazy to risk that for one days work not done .Even if the contract is unclear, that extra day means you leave on good terms with your employer !
