I was reading either todays golfer or golf monthly yesterday and in it there was a couple of pages about a fella from Wicklow who has spent the last 15 months playing every golf course in the country. It was very good. I was just wondering has any of you heard about this before and also do you know if he is writing a book about it.

I play golf with a person who has around the 250 mark in Ireland.

I say your man ended up getting a lot of free golf in the end and didn't pay for all the green fees

Yea he said that all his greenfees were complementary. Also he said the only course he didnt play was Killen Castle because they wernt allowing anyone on at the time. Fair play to him, id love to do it. His favourite course of all was Scrabo in County Down.

his name is kevin markham and his book will be released early this year called " an amateur guide to golf courses in ireland" should be a good read

Look forward to that book. I love playing new courses, and have one played in each of the 26 counties, but loads I've yet to see - hope they're not going to go out of business before I get around to them!

    His favourite was Scrabo???????

Now Scrabo is a decent enough course but I wouldn't expect to see it as anyone's top course. One bad bounce at Scrabo and you loose your ball in a gorse bush. It wouldn't get into my top 10 let alone my favourite.

The lucky guy, did he win the lotto, now theres a way to spend your days, maybe a nice bite to eat after a long day on the golf course.

Very amusing to see a thread up about my travels. It's the only one I've seen! The whole thing was a total blast from start to finish and despite a few break downs in the camper van, it couldn't have gone better. As for winning the lotto - I wish - I was working the whole time I was away, and after 36 holes it's knackering stuff.

As for Scrabo, I stand by my comment that it is one of the best courses in the country - but I'm not talking about quality or design (I've just left a comment on the Concra Wood thread and I agree that it is a perfect course and among the best parklands on the island), I'm talking about the experience of playing a thrilling course, that surprises you time after time (including the dodgy bounces, Stockdam). There are holes that take your breath away and the views, as you scramble over the hill, are beautiful.
