HAUPPAUGE - WINTV PVR 150 MCE KIT

    Hi everybody

I am about to build my first HTPC and am having a problem as to what TV card to get.

I want to be able to record from Sky but my Sky box is a Pace with no s-viveo connection.

I was thinking of buying a HAUPPAUGE - WINTV PVR 150 MCE KIT.

I will therefore be limited to connecting via composite cables or scart adaptors.

Will this card be ok or should I look elsewhere?

I'll be using Vista Home Premium as the OS.

I know my way around building PC's but this is my first time using TV Tuners so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Depending on the model of pace box you have it might put SVideo over SCART. If it does not then your options are to use composite or convert the RGB or Component signal to SVideo.

If it does not transmit SVideo over SCART, then converting the RGB signal to SVideo is the next best option. IIRC a good convertor will set you back about 50-60e. Composite is cheap and cheerful to get your started though.

Many thanks for your reply Souper

I will try the composite route first and see how I get on.

I have been reading up on the convertors as well so this gives me another option that I did

    not know of.

Thanks again for your advice as I was afraid of buying a card that I could not use.
