    Hi,

My external hard-disk is shagged at this stage and I need to buy a new one. I payed IR£169 for it around 8 years ago. Does anyone know of any special offers around?

    Kevin

I picked up an excellent 400 GByte USB-powered HDD in-store at PC World for about €109.

1TB... ...? Holy ****, that's huge. My old disc was only 40GB but that was more than enough. I'm not comfortable buying stuff online though, so, I think I'll check out for that offer in PC World in Jervis street on Saturday.

It can actually be safer to buy stuff online from a reputable dealer like dabs/komplett/etc than to hand over your card to a stranger in a shop. I didn't read through the other thread but I'd be amazed if PC World is cheaper than dabs for a good drive. If you've concerns over online safety tho use a disposable credit card like 3V.

Thanks, I'll take it into consideration. I've bought tonnes of stuff online before but I am just more weary now with lots of people losing their jobs and the increase in criminal activity. What can I say... ...poverty can lead to crime
