What do ye think of these rumors of the iPhone "Nano". I think it could be that $99 4GB iPhone rwhich was suppose to be sold in Wal Mart, maybe targeted towards the PAYG market. I think this could be plausible, seeing as Apple are hoping to have sold 45 million iPhones by the end of '09. If Apple do release an iPhone targeted to the PAYG market, people (mostly teens) would go mad for one, if the price is right.

There's a huge European market for it though.

Though I think the rumors of it being much smaller physically are kind of dumb (at least if they keep the same form factor that is - why would you want the screen any smaller?), I do think it will be a cheaper variant, which is gimped in more ways than just capacity. If not, it would threaten the iPhone 3G too much, as there's a surprising amount of people out there that would not care for the higher capacity and opt for an iPhone that does everything the current one does, but only has 4GB or something.

The PAYG approach does sound like a plausible idea, but does Apple get that the non-US market for it is huge? I'm still not sure on that one. But they did do an international launch with the 3G (kinda) and PAYG would mean no messy carrier agreements to work out, so certainly plausible...

I think it will come but not yet, be of huge benefit to Europe as PAYG is the norm wont be much good in the states as almost everybody has a ridiculously overpriced contract.

Maybe when they release a new iphone in June/July they will release a iphone nano aswell, don't think its coming in Macworld too soon
