algarve in feb - where to go?

We are 3 adults + 2 kids, looking for an area within walking distance of beach, restaurants & shops (and not too hilly as we have grandma with us too).

Looking for ideas on where to go that it won't be too quiet. Or too resorty. We're not mad into bars or clubs either. Just need a choice of restaurants in the evenings, some shopping, a market maybe.

Eastern Algarve looks ideal but as it is out of season, will it be too quiet? What is Algarve west like at this time of year? Albufeira? Is Old Town very hilly?

    thanks for any advice

    www.clubepraiadaoura.com

I recommend the Club Praia da Oura, Montechoro. It's right next to Albufeira and also close to the main 'Strip'. The complex is right on the beach front and is really nice.

BTW, have you ever stayed there?

If yes, which block do you recomend?
And do you know if its possible to use facilities at the Oura View Beach Club? like the heated pool (Feb ! Brrrr)

thanks for any help you have

Yeah, i stayed just across from the pool in a two bedroom apartment at the CPO. I loved the pool view but if i were to stay there again i would request an apartment overlooking the coast!

And yes you can use the facilities of the Oura View Beach Club as the hotel and Beach Club are owned by the CPO. Yeah the heated pool will come in great! Also the various jacuzzi's dotted around the complex were all heated when i was there too!

Hey, thanks - that's great to know. I'd emailed the Beach Club directly only to hear they all booked up.

They've offered me a rate of €295 for 2 bed apt for the week at CPO opposite the pool - great for 5 of us on mid-term break from school!! It's cost us more to stay at home.

But I was having difficulty getting a straight answer to a straight question from them - like using the facilities at the Beach Club and where the apt would be in relation to the pool/beach and what floor, etc

At this stage I just want to book something - so thanks a lot, I'll go ahead with it

To be honest jump on that offer, i know it is low season but that really is an excellent price for a 2 bed!

Direct holidays charge circa €900 for a 2 bed at the CPO in the summer. Even now to book the CPO in Feb through booking.com is €245 for a week in a small studio for two. You did well

I'm 99% sure you can use the Beach Club facilites as well as the hotel thats across from the CPO. I actually stayed in the Beach Club when it was known as the Montechoro Beach Club, CPO only aquired the property about 3 years ago. I preferred the Beach Club for the pool but the CPO wins on atmosphere and the nice grounds in which the complex is set in. Enjoy

    Hey - thanks for that!

It's hard when you're trying to book the perfect! holiday at minimal cost to suit 7 people. And when you only have 2-D information on a place, like photos, posts, etc

thanks again, I've done lots of searching - but I think this is the right choice for us. You may just have confirmed it!

    Hey there,

Booked 10 nights at Club Praia De Oura Apartments in Aug. Got it including flights & airport transfers for €550 each or so. Great deal. Just hope it's nice. We were looking for something close to nightlife & the beach but not too wild...

funny this thread got resurrected as we just back literally today after our 2nd stay at CPO. Just switched on PC to check my emails. Left there about 4am this morning after a week of sunshine & warmth. CPO has it all for all ages, lots of entertainment for young & old. Got to swim in pools every day, lazed on the sun loungers, walked on the beach ... hardly left the CPO complex. Pity the Beach Caffe was closed for renovations. We go back again in 6 weeks!! (thanks to gazza22 for original recommendation 2 yrs ago!)

    Hi Holly,

Thinking of going to club praia da oura the end of august, we seem to be getting a good deal on it. I am going with my girlfriend, we are in our late 20's, would this be a suitable place to go to. And is the hotel nice. We dont want to go to a place that will be full of leaving cert teenagers, want quiet, but also lively if we want to go out. your opinion would be greatly appreciated.
