Sony DSC-H50... a couple of problems with the modes

    Hello all
I have a Sony DSC-H50 for several months now which is going ok but i have a couple of questions about some of the mode settings. The problem modes are 'Easy' and 'Auto'(little green camera icon).

In 'Easy', which is a pretty useful setting overall, it's not possible to change the pixel setting, it's set at 9m pixels constantly which can be problematic. Does anyone know if it's possible to lower the pixel setting here somehow?

In 'Auto', it's not possible to turn on the flash, it's only usable without flash. Not much of an 'Auto' setting me thinks.

There's nothing in the user manual. So, any ideas on the above 2 points anyone?

    Thanks in advance

    DG

Don't know about the Sony but on a Pentax M50 there are lots of helpful modes. The only problem that I found with it is that these helpful modes prevent you from doing 'real photography' - setting the ISO manually, the aperture or shutter speed, etc... So while I don't know about the Sony what you describe isn't uncommon. Mind you not being able to turn the flash on/off sounds a bit too helpful to me.

Maybe others will have some experience?

Regarding the flash, on my Olympus SP-565 bridge camera, you can't do anything with the flash controls (i.e. enable, disable, set red eye, etc) on the camera unless you actually have the flash popped up, which you can only do manually, i.e. it doesn't pop up on it's own when needed as on some cameras. Works fine in AUTO mode as in all the others (except super Macro).
