Can anyone tell me where to find one. I saw this guy at the Warehouse using it but forgot to ask where he got it from. Seriously considering getting one after seeing its blowback in operation.

Its a classic airsoft gun they're a pain in the arse to get and even more of a pain in the ass to maintain. Also the guy that you saw was kdoughlas (one of the mods here)

That was kdouglas. I don't think they're even made any more, and even if you found one for sale, you'd end up spending a grand or so getting it up and running, just for a little kick and not great performance or accuracy.

I think you'll see a lot more gas blowback AEGs coming out in the next year or so that will do essentially the same thing.

Thanks Dave, Just found this Japanese site where they have one in stock but after converting the price it comes to 500 Euros and then I will end up paying VAT plus shipping. Might as well save up and get the TM M4 SOPMOD or the WA M4.

Be careful with those Japanese sites, there are several set up by the same company that are known scam artists who claim to have classics and WW2 gbb rifles (either CO2 or Green) but are nothing more than a front from which you'll have no comeback.

Gas blowback aeg's exist. They're called G&G Top Tech. Battery drives motor, motor drives gear, gear drives piston, piston drives blowback mech using leeched air from the cylinder.

Yup, that was myself, lovely gun and great fun to shoot but it breaks my heart the amount of time I've spent working on it in comparison to the times I actually get to skirmish it.

At the moment, single shot works grand and range on it is OK (provided I use G&G BBs) but full auto is a bit useless (sounds great though).

A semi-decent escort mp5 (Second hand) will cost you about 500euro alright, but then add on top of that an external co2 rig and you'll also have to have a way to refill your co2 bottles (from a larger co2 bottle) I rent a 20kg tank from BOC gases, costs about 80euro a year to rent the tank and about 16-17euro to get it filled, this will get me about 30-40 fills of the small (16oz) tank that plugs directly into the gun (get about 1200 shots out of the small tank).

If you find a "new" one for sale, odds are it's a scam or it is the earlier model Youth Engineering MP5 which the escort was based on. YE built their gun based on a licenced escort design, but went out of business, Escort then bought back YE's stock, modified the design to add adjustable hopup and so that it takes AEG magazines and sold them.

As far as I am aware, Escort dont have any left, but there may be one or two floating about their factory, although business with escort hasn't been great lately from what I've heard.

If you are seriously interested in getting into classic airsoft, check out classicairsoft.org, there is also a guy in China who is now making copies of the original escort design called Daytonagun, he has improved the design slightly, however it is all hand made to order from stainless steel (original escort stuff was brass) and is still quite expensive. At the moment, he does an M4, an AK and a Kit for the m249, but you are looking at at least $700+

    Daytonagun

been looking at his aks excellent work but you pay for the craftsmanship, his drop in m249 co2 gearbox is interesting as well

Yup, im mightily tempted to pick one of them up, but I might ask him for a different recoil spring to get a better rate of fire, only does 12rps stock, which although realistic, isn't as much fun.

(My Escort mp5 does about 19-20rps)

i believe from what i've read that it is >1j output as stock so im hoping we might be able to limit the output to make it legal. but it seems very nice and would be lovely to try out

As it's powered from an external tank (HPA or Co2), you use a regulator to change the PSI which will in turn affect the FPS aka the fps is adjustable.

This is the same thing as adjusting the hop-up to bring the fps below 328 in a slightly over AEG is it ?
    Lovely piece.

Thanks for the info Kdouglas. The money isn't much of an issue but the maintenance would be a problem because as far as AEG internals go, anything beyond the standard M16 is rocket science to me. The co2 canister renting and stuff is kinda putting me off now. So I guess its back to waiting for a WA gas M4.

Just in case, this is the link to the site that I'd found the escort on. I had to use babel fir to translate Japanese to English http://www.shop-k1.com/product/23

No, with hopup, you could adjust it all the way on to get it under 1j, but then find that it pulls up straight away when you fire it, so you have to turn it back off a little to make it usable. this would mean people were shooting at you with over the limit guns that passed a chrono but have been "altered".,

No, different entirely, adjust the input pressure on a regulated co2 gun is more like changing the spring in an AEG, the actual pressure the device is outputting at the nozzle is being altered.

Whereas with hopup, the device still outputs the same pressure on the BB before it hits the hopup.

no rumor the first batch was pushing well into the 500fps, since then different versions have been released by we and customs versions are also available to please the 1j market, wgc currently have 2 or 3 versions for sale.

    Possible answer to Sharads question

I've fired the blowback Top Tech 416. It's a great gun but the blowback is hardly noticeable, it's more of an AEG with a moving bolt. If the mp5 is different then I will get the retractable A5 version otherwise I will just save up for the TM SOPMOD and its 82rnd mags. Thanks for the help though.
