    This is not something that i would usually do but i would love some input on this.

    I'm 26 and have been single for a few years now. I've gone through a string of painful dates with guys who have just been absolute messers ...drunks, stalkers etc. I have had a few big relationships but nothing for a while.

    Anyway the point is i have never met a guy who i've been interested in anywhere else but a club ever - and that never gets me anywhere.


    where is a good place to meet normal fun guys? I know the join clubs bit,...but really i wouldnt know where to start...i'm not sporty. I'm very social but dont have more than a handful of male friends....I went to an all girls school and was shy and have been in a female dominated career straight out of college.

    I'm not desperate to meet someone now but i would like to try and give myself a chance....I'm naturally friendly and have no problem getting dates,..i just dont want the ones i get:(

    you havent given us any real info to provide you with the relevnt information for starts you like to have fun your soical, but what do you do when your not working and sleeping.... etc....? what are your interest's....

    why not turn up to a boards meet .... keep an eye on whatever forums you like ...ie. photography, cinema, computers etc ... wait for someone to suggest a meet - or ask yourself and hey presto....you meet people that you have something in common with and take it from there.

    Do you know what you want from a guy ?

    do you want someone thats passionate, exciting, adores you and has plenty of money to buy you loads of presents ... or just someone to hang out with - goto movies, watch TV and generally have fun with.... maybe you need to ask first what exactly you want ... and what you will accept in a guy.... you might be wanting too much from a guy (I hope this doesn't sound bad and no offence intended).

    What kind of guys do you normally date ? if you have a "type" then maybe try another group of guys ..ie, older guys, younger guys, more intelligent types, maybe guys that arent as intelligent as you. (given your post its safe to assume a level of intelligence)

    I'm very easy going. I love watching movies, reading ,cooking ,holidays....I'm open to anything really. I dont go out with guys based on their interests or job or anything like that...more just on how we click.

    I like the idea of the boards meet though.

    so what your saying is you wnana meet some dude's who are sound see how you get on... and then go from there ? eather psosible fruitfullness cast on the junk pile or a good friend type thing.... ?

    You can literally meet guys ANYWHERE OP, I met a girl in a supermarket once that ended up with us on a date (went nowhere after that but thats not the point :D) Look happy and be friendly. And don't be afraid to talk to people. I don't know where you're from but i noticed huge differences in how people operate between dublin and the village i'm from, where in the village if two people are in a queue, they'll naturally chat, in dublin that never happens. You're in your prime lass and god know's every guy in the country would love a young woman to start chatting to them, all you have to do is take the first step ;)
