Sorry to hear that.... Had a good one here. Lots of alcohol and fireworks,,, hic!

I do think you should put too much pressue on yourself, though. It was another night. They're be more. Smile, sleep and go mental when your're better.

    Enjoy life,

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

3 years ago my wonderful girlfriend collapsed at work and was taken to Limerick regional hospital and was confirmed to have Chrons Disease which is an incurable disease. She spent new years in hospital and I spent New Years with her family.

It was a horrible new year. There were a lot of tears. She is next to me now having a drunken conversation with her friend.

    Life is now good.

Thank god for injections which BTW I have to give her every two weeks.

    IM A GOD DAMNED SAINT

Seriously, It was horrible for her and the worst Christmas ever and the year before I was complaining because I had some nasty Asian Flu. What a baby I was comapred to her!!!

Was in a wheelchair for NYE two years ago. Only on crutches this year, so it's progress I suppose. :D

I have been fine in between btw, just coincidence.

I dealt with nothing. My poor fiancee had and still has the trouble of it. Im just a shoulder to help with the trouble of it.

1989 was fairly bad. I was on my own (after the wife had left me) and went to a night club on my own. That was fairly miserable.

2008 (i.e. yesterday) was a close second (or first maybe /shrugs).

Who gives a **** anyway? It's just one day in a year.

Probably this year had a very close family member die suddenly a month ago who was always the life and soul of our new years eve party then the day after their funeral my boyfriend of two years broke up wit me. So feeling quite crappy this news years eve defo the worst new years eve so far...

Believe it or not, it was not sitting in a motor pool in Iraq when I was next to my tank waiting for transport to a fight.

It was the year previous, shortly after I had lost my job in the dotcom bubble, and was relegated to doing security guard work. A serious step down, not exactly what I had gone to university for. I'm driving around the city hitting my checkpoints, whilst the entire rest of San Francisco, it seemed, was out partying.

At least in Iraq I had the company of colleagues and friends.

    NTM

You'se dont have it too bad..

Homer: this is the worst party ever!
Marge: What about that New Years Eve at Lenny's, He didn't even have a clock!

Plenty of respect to you, Manic Moran. I can tell you it's bad enough being at work on Christmas Day and New Year's day..but when you're stuck in a tent thousands of miles from home or pondering the card life dealt you it must be a nightmare.

This was the worst new years by a mile for me. Went out with my mates earlier in the nite and was back in the house at 11:45 to spend newyears with the girlfriend as was the arrangement. I get in the door to find her pissed with a violent look in her eye. She is the worst drunk in the world and proceeds to go for me for no reason at all. Before ive finished pouring my guinness she's whacking me around the head, so i grab a few cans and get the fcuk out of there. In the meantime, ive left my phone, wallet and keys in the house so with nowhere to go and no money, i bring my cans round the corner and proceed to drink in an allyway in the dark as the countdown began. I got to see the fireworks from the whole estate go off which was a small plus point. After about an hour i head back to the house, but she was still the same. It was horrible - had a bottle thrown at my head and everything. Things are v.frosty at the mo.:D
I just said to myself that if because that happened to me in the first hour of 2009, the rest of the year can only get better.

Jesus, break up with her. If the genders were reversed we'd all be calling Women's Aid...

04/05 - had to go home at 11 because I was coming down with the flu... and it was actually the flu, not just a bad cold, which is all you have if you're able to go to work. If you have the flu, you cannot go to work. You can barely make it to the toilet...

+1, or take some power back.

Lot of people remarking that this year was the worst, pretty ****ty for me too, although I have a GF, was at a "party" - had several lonely ones previously so can't REALLY complain.

Thing is, she is the nicest person in the world when she is sober. She hadnt drank in a long time up till that point. Ill suss it out over the next few days anyhow.

mine was absolutely amazing this year, best ive ever had.
until later on in the night when the boyfriend got very jealous over attention i was getting in the club we were at and proceeded to bring up ex-bf issues and stuff that was in no way relevant to our current relationship... damn drunk speak! continued into quite an argument by the time we got home and he ended up sleeping on the couch.
but all was forgotten the day after, and ill remember it as a good one!

This years New Years was excellent. The worst had to be last year though. Spent it at home with the then gf and 2 mates. When ex-Homerun went to bed she out of nowhere whispered to me "if you don't come to bed now I will be really pissed off with you in the morning".
Now I'm not a stubborn guy but I've seen friends under thumb from girlfriends too many times. I would do anything for her yet with a demand like that, I just wanted to do the opposite on purpose. She should have asked nicely.

So I stayed up drinking with the lads and conversation took a turn to darker things. I did something silly to prove a point and it resulted in me having to go to the doctor on New Years day. The good thing is I look on that day itself with fond memories as things really picked up with me and herself. Thank god she was there when I woke up or I would have freaked at the realisation of what happened the night before.
sorry if this is a bit vague.

This year, although the night itself was blood brilliant! For the simple reason that as I stood in a house at 4 in the morning, as drunk as drunk could be, I realised I had to leave for work in 3 hours :(

I spent all day yesterday feeling like I was about to die.

It wasn't quite a bad one and I'd had fun and looking back now it's actually quite funny but back in 04/05 three friends, one of their boyfs and myself headed to a friend of the boyf's house he was sharing with his brother. We were drinking on but when his brother came back to the house at about 11pm (don't ask why, on NYE?!) he kicked us out so we walked these barren country roads until we came to a barn and spent the next five hours sitting in there, with only ourselves for warmth.

Fun times! :P I suppose it shows how good my New Years Eves have been if that's the worst.

Im sorry but orgasiming your way into the new year does not qualify as being the worst new years unless there was a small penis involved. :D

the worst one is also one of the nicest ive had in a strange way.

my bf at the time was really sick with tonsilitis & of course i ended up with it, but worse than him, ive never actually felt so bad in my life, had to try find a doctor on new yrs eve. celebrated new yrs as 2 sick idiots who could barely move eat or speak lying on a couch watching dvds. but even though we were sick it was actually nice in a strange way..

my scariest was a new year in paris - would not recommend the top of the champs elysees near the arc de triomphe at midnight on new yrs eve, not if youre a woman anyway. packed with men thinking its ok to grab your arm/ass/boob just cause youre in a crowd & you cant figure out who it was, fights breaking out everywhere, glass bottles & bangers being thrown all over the place but it was so packed you couldnt get out of the way. it was like all the scumbags youve ever met being put together in one place & drunk. we had a lovely time until about 11.30pm :(

NYE 2007 was so sick with a flu but forced myself to go to a friends house party, fell asleep on her armchair. Woke up jan 1st sicker than i had felt in a verry long time. Was off work for 10 days, couldnt afford a doctor, had to pay rent instead so had to suffer!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 96 ✭✭rkevin

    2008 was worst
went to buskers brown pub in galway and they could not be bothered in getting a dj and did not count down to the newyear.
    what a crap bar

New Years Eve 01/02 as I had my very first girlfriend, I decided to celebrate by bringing her to a party. I had never done anything to celebrate the New Year before, usually spending it miserably at home in front of Jools Holland or Graham Norton, so I was quite excited to be out and showing off my hot girlfriend... until she cheated on me in front of everyone. And I couldn't even run away because I was stuck in the middle of a massive housing estate in the middle of nowhere with my soul crushing misery and embarrassment.

So scarred was I by the experience, that I spent NYE 02/03, alone in my damp and freezing bedsit trying to drink myself to sleep so I would miss the horrible midnight bit and wake up in a hopefully brighter New Year. That was pretty grim...but it was nothing compared to the previous one.

Is it weird that my best ever NYE involved me taking drugs and passing out at quarter past twelve, thus missing an entire party at which I had made everyone promise not to cheat on me?
