Right, yes it's New Years Eve, and I'm in work bored, and so it struck me that you don't often see bikes coming with QR seatpost clamps these days... when I was a nipper they were the thing to have -as much QR as possible on every part of the bike.

Was it just a fashion trend, or where have they gone!??

They're pretty superfluous on most bikes where you won't be changing the saddle height frequently - most mtbs come with them for this reason.

My bike came with one ... but got that replaced in the shop itself .. its difficult enough to lock the front and rear wheels to stop someone to stealing it ... I couldn't bear the thought of having to lock the saddle everytime as well when I don't need to use it that often.

Though I did find it that the quick release lever for the saddle makes an excellent quick release for the car battery terminals as well .... I was finding that as I am not using the car that much ... weeks together sometimes, it would fail to start when I needed it most ... so off went the screw at the battery terminal to be replaced by a QR ... so it takes me 5 secs to connect or disconnect the battery now ... :)

    Thread hijack...

Anyone know where I can get a clamp with "all the way through" holes for a proper nut and bolt?

All the current crop seem to use an "retained" bolt with one hole.

I need this for my pinhead and pitlock seat clamps.

Drill it out... or I can give you one with 'professionally' stripped threads if you want... :)
