Nightclub Assault

A friend of mine was assaulted in a nightclub by some bouncers and the attack was caught on tape.

My friend went to the Gardai and made his complaint but the footage from the nightclub has mysteriously "disappeared". Is there any legal means to force the club to produce this footage which I know to exist?

I am trying to understand why the club would accidentally on purpose lose these tapes. Would it have to do with "vicarious liability"?

    Many thanks.
