Hi, I'm wondering how does one go about getting photos proffessionaly done for personal use.
I woudl like to get model photos in the gothic style (corsets and all that).
How would you go about hiring a photographer for this?
I tried looking online, but all I came across were photographers asking for models on boards etc. and i wouldn't feel safe agreeing to that.
Are there any photo salons which do this?

PS. How much does this usually cost?

Find a photographer who's style you like, meet up with them and discuss what you'd like. Bring some examples of the work you've seen and like, and let the photographer run through with their own ideas and slant on it. Do you have your own corsets et al?

The photographer will have contacts for your makeup, shoot, and bobs your corsetted uncle.

Not sure of any studio's specialising in gothic shoots, but tbh, any photographer worth his salt should be able to do it.

Expect costs to be €200++ to include a makeup artist.

    Enjoy it :)

Yeah that's where my initial problem is :p

I was hoping for some student photographers who need a model for some portfolio shoots etc.

touchy subject. I am a student of photography... and I've come to the decision not to go down this road anymore, I rather seek and ask then be asked a give it for free...someone loses that way :o

well I know I'd love to do it, I reckon you'd be best off with a studio if you are finding it hard to find a photographer you like though. If you are willing to take the chance though you could model for a couple of us. Send me a pm if you are interested in it, I dont mind setting it up for you.

I find the goth look really interesting too, dreads would be cool!

get your own goth stuff from the internet custume suppliers my sister bought something costumes for a play she was doing.

    and call a boards meet!!:D

    seriously what would you need?

some kind of backdrop so you can shoot at home
(because your not going out dressed like that young lady!! :P)

    1-2 lights/ reflector.

would you consider starting small on your own and do some test shots?

search the internet for a fetish/fashion/portrait photographer..... and go from there .... most professional will prob charge €400-500 for the session (possibly including make-up).....personally I think a fetish photographer ...or a fairly artsy type fashion photographer would suit best (In my opinion)

would offer to do it - but you'd probably just end out with portrait pics of you dressed up....when other photographers could bring out the inner goth.

why not organise a Boards studio session and offer to be one of the models, different styles of photographer, different approaches and loads of different pics to choose from.

There's a chap called Rosco that's known for goth styles afaik - Not overly familiar with his work. Dragan on here is a mate of his though.

Might be worth giving Dragan a PM.
