Hello, We got a Philips 32PFL5403D/10 Television for Xmas and it's picking up the digiatal channels RTE ONE, TWO, TV3 and TG4 plus a few RTE radio stations but it's not showing any PICTURE, just sound. The EPG and Digital teletext is available but just no picture.. Anyone know why? The telly is connected to an aerial in…

Hello,

We got a Philips 32PFL5403D/10 Television for Xmas and it's picking up the digiatal channels RTE ONE, TWO, TV3 and TG4 plus a few RTE radio stations but it's not showing any PICTURE, just sound. The EPG and Digital teletext is available but just no picture..

Anyone know why? The telly is connected to an aerial in the attic and we are outside dunboyne in co. meath

Your TV isn't MPEG4 compatible. Read the stickies.

Only way around it is to get a seperate MPEG4 DTT box.

Your TV is DVB-T/MPEG-2, the Irish DTT standard is DVB-T/MPEG-4 (the MPEG part processes the picture information).

See this previous post for an explaination of Philips TVs model numbers.

This is the full model number, which isn't often publicised on shop displays. For example, the 37PFL9603 model is available in two versions:

e.g. 37PFL9603/10D is NOT compatible
e.g. 37PFL9603/10H IS compatible

If you're in a shop, ask for the full product number (it'll be on the box sticker)
Online, you should be able to see the full product model number.
