Do Robins eat snails?

I found about 30 empty garden snail shells in a cravice in an old stone wall, at least a metre from the ground. I wonder what bird or other animal ate the snails, or is there another explanation for the empty shells?

Insects and worms are the predominant diet of Robins. The Song Thrush is a more likely culprit in this case. Are the shells smashed? Sometimes thrushes seem to have a favourite rock for cracking snail shells on, perhaps the crevice on your wall..:)

Thanks for the reply, I am new to this way of communication

The shells are pretty smashed all right, but the crevice is high up and too small for a song trush to get into. I have read that snails hibernate for the winter and the location would be a good one, it looks like a masacre went on there. There are lots of broken shells on the ground as well.
I have witnessed a trush in action with a snail, not a prety sight! :)
