Tools - Internet Options - You should see Homepage listed with http://www.google.co.uk just change it to google.ie and then click apply and ok down the bottom.

For future ref there is a section for this kind of thing under the forum technology - computers and technology

If you go to google.ie and get redirected to co.uk its automatic based on your ISP I thought? So if your using an English IP you will be brough to the UK search engine?

hmmm, might that only be for google.com ? (we can goto google.co.uk and not be redirected)

I dont know if its your google toolbar, or part of your Internet explorer search.

    If its your google toolbar
(you know this since there is a google image to the left of where you put in your search text)
    1) Click on settings on the right hand side
    2) Click on Options
    3) On the Features Tab Click on Search Box Settings at the top
    4) Select "Ireland, Republic (.ie)" from the "Use Google site" drop down at the bottom of this screen
    5) Click OK and OK

reply back here if that solves your problem, or if it doesnt :)
