More stations?

I'm in my first few days of using a Freesat box. So far, I'm rather disappointed with the selection of stations. For instance, in News, there are only seven channels - no BBC World Service, which I though was included, and a fairly mingy bunch.

Is there a way to add stations?

By the way, there's the same problem with an aerial - I have RTE1 and 2, TG4 and the RTE radio stations, but no Channel 6. (Channel 6 is an Irish station, yes?) Is there a way to add this?

    Yes you can add stations.

Channel 6 is a payTV only channel of dubious value. It's only on cable/MMDS originally and then added to Sky's PayTV lineup.

BBC World TV is on a different satellite.

BBC World Service Radio should be on your system. You may need to add missing transponders or do a Network Table Scan to add any missing channels. See the Stickies here.

    See http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html

The blocks marked darker and "videoguard" don't have channels listed on that page as they only work on a Sky subscription and card.

There are about 22 of the satellites between 42E and 45W that can be received either with motorised dish, toroidal dish, multiple dishes, multiple LNBs on a dish etc...

In the pictures below the dish gets 28E (Sky/Freesat/UK), 19E (German + others), 13E (Italian + others)

19E and 13E have BBC World TV. 28E only has BBC News24 as BBC World is NOT for UK consumption (adverts).

Watty, very poor cable management on that dish, Ha,Ha, (78cm) I think.
I like the two way TX/RX amp, is it still working ? is it still 23 east.

    Regards,

    Gerry:)

Thanks, Watty, I'll take a look at the stickies.

If I understand you rightly, you're saying that the satellite dish I have fixed to the wall outside won't receive certain channels, but by changing that to a motorised dish I can do so?

Are your references to 28E, 19E, etc to do with this motorised business?

(Sorry about the n00b questions; I'm on a steep learning curve from no TV for a year preceded by rabbits' ears for a couple of years.)
