HOUSE INSURANCE CLAIM

Hi, I had a leak from the en-suite toilet upstairs which leaked through the kitchen ceiling, nothing major but the water must have ran along a beam and there is a ridge right along the ceiling and all the paint is blistering away. I tried a bit of diy, sanded paint away to re-paint to find that the house was not skimmed and therefore I sanded the paper off the plasterboard.

I'm wondered if I would be allowed to claim to get a professional in to repair it as obviously i'm not exactly an ace at paintwork or would the claim be refused because i had a go at it myself?
(The leak was a loose fitting on the toilet which has been fixed)
