(copy of post I made on Digital Spy)

I bought a Bush Freesat HD Box today and just set it up. The setup was painless. It would appear that the queen now has one more Freesat box at her address

When I bought the box in Argos in Belfast (£97), I was aksed for my details. I explained that I had no postcode and was taking the box down to the Republic. No problem she said, they had a postcode for us, a Bristol one! Strange, but how and ever.

First impressions, maybe its because of what has been said here, but I thought SD looked a tad soft, specifically on ITV for the football highlights... The more I look at it though, the more I think it might just be the power of suggestion.

BBC HD looks fine as does Luxe HD. I figured out how to find the non freesat channels without too much hassle.

For some reason, I was not expecting BBC Text... But hey, its there! Great. I love teletext, its great for the footie scores, keeping up on the horses and so on.

The EPG is grand, especially after only ever having now and next on most channels and nothing on others!

The Box itself is nice and neat. Strange though, there is no light on at the front unless you push a button or if the unit is turned off. I can't get over the size of the box. My Strong 6355 is at least twice the size! The Strong is now to be retired to the bedroom after many years of great service.

    Just something I noticed...

My Bush Freesat HD Box defaulted to 1080i output. My TV is only 1366 X 768, not Full HD. I switched the output to 720p and I have to say, BBC HD looks a lot better as do the SD channels.

    MJ

Yes, I noticed it had gone up tp £197.00 from £97.00 and had been on sale when they first appeared on the market for £149.99. £100 of an increase? where do they think they are, the Republic of Ireland?

I got the grundig HD box for £127 in Comet in Manchester. I was going to buy it in Currys in manchester for the same price (they price matched it at the time) but they wouldnt sell it to me because I live in Ireland and hadnt a UK postcode. You could try currys in the north and come prepared with a postcode and ask them to price match Comet.

I've been using the box for about two weeks now and it seems alright. I had a problem adding some non freesat channels like bliss, flaunt and NME. It would scan them but wouldnt add them to the non freesat channels list. I eventually got around it by redoing a first time install and entering a different postcode and adding different channels before and after nme. I found this solution on digital spy so it seems there is a slight bug with this grundig HD box
