This will probably get more answers in the Independent and Youth section. You probably won't be able to get too far south at that time of year so you might be restricted to the Lake District (lots of lakes, mountains, rafting, mud baths, outdoorsy stuff), Santiago (nice city about 4 days), and the Atacama Desert. I spent a lot of time in Patagonia and the Torres del Paine Park but I think they are probably closed or highly restricted because of weather in Feb.

I'm pretty sure summer (feb) is one of the only times you can go down south no? Anyway, I'll be in Chile around the same time and have a few Chilean friends i'll be staying with, PM me if you want

Feb is more autumn for them I suppose. I think the weather can be very variable. I have friends who were stuck trying to cross the Andes in late Feb as all the border crossings to Mendoza were closed because of snow. Even when I was in Ushuaia for Christmas there was a lot of snow and bus cancellations.

thanks for all the replies guys. Hmm we really had planned to go straight to Puerta Arenas and stay there for a while but maybe the weather will be too restrictive..
