You can get pretty decient rackets online... I bought a Kason TSF 200 from ebay last year... overall a very nice racket.

If your in Cork City - Ludgate O'Keefes stocks pretty decient rackets...

    Thats my 2 cents anyhows...

Its hard to recomened a racket without knowing a little about your playing style.

www.badmintoncentral.com is a good resource as they have reviews and comparissons of lots of rackets.

Are you in a club? You should probably ask around your club and maybe some of the others will let you try a few shots with their rackets. Then you can get an idea of what you like.

Its pretty hard to get decent rackets in sports shops anymore. I think most people now buy them online or thought an aget or speciality store.

If you are in Cork, Craig Casey (president of Badminton Ireland) is an agent for Yonex.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I got this:

    http://www.kickbacksports.co.uk/Products/Carlton-Powerblade-2000-102361.aspx

probably relatively heavy and not the best, but think it might be ok just to see if i end up playing quite a bit and then maybe splash out on a good one!

    Thanks again
