    Hey everyone,
I've been searching the web for the last month or so trying to increase my knowledge of computing hardware while also looking for the best affordable gaming option.

And i must say it has been one of the most confusing journeys i've ever had.

The only conclusions which i have come to so far is that nothing is ever clear and simple.

There was a time when i believed that having more than 4gigs of ram was always beneficial, yet now i know about 64bit and 32bit OS's. (which was a huge shock)

There was a time when it made sense that quadcore was better than dualcore.
When the more expensive and more recent processors from the same brand meant that they worked faster, but maybe they just used less energy.

The extortionate prices which some retailers charge. (Click and such)

And finally, Graphics cards make no sense!!

I have around 500-600 give or take 50euro to spend on the CPU.
I would like to have my PC usable for around the next four years.
I want to be able to play games such as Left4dead and counterstrike easily.

    What i think i need:

    Intel Quad core processor.
I hear alot of people giving out about quad cores and saying that a dual core is fine. I'm thinking of the future here and although i'm aware that an awful lot of software right now doesn't take advantage of the 4 cores. However i figure in the future it will become bog standard and even necessary to have a quad core.

    4gigs of ram.
It's the max amount of ram a 32bit os can uses as far as i know.

So if anyone can point me in the direction of what you think is the right P.C. for me i would be immensely grateful.

I've been skimming dabs, elara and ebuyer and i really just don't know what i'm at.

    Thanks again
