    Firstly Happy New Year all!

I am about to venture into the world of the dslr. I was given a few lenses over the holidays from friends who no longer used their slr. My query is whether the following lenses would be compatible with the Canon 1000D/450D or the Nikon 60D. As I said I am a complete newbie so any comments would be very much appreciated.

    Nikon 70-300mm f/4-f/5.6
    Nikon 28-80mm
    Sigma 70-210mm
    Sigma 52mm
    Pentax 50mm

    Thanks

Nikon lenses work with Nikon bodies
Canon lenses work with Canon bodies
Pentax lenses work with pentax bodies
    They're not interchangable.

Sigma lenses are available to fit both Canon and Nikon (note: they are different lenses though (different mounts) - the one lens will not fit both)

If you have Nikon fitting sigma lenses, go with a nikon body (4/5 lenses)
As it stands, you've 2 lenses that will certainly fit nikon cameras.

The Nikon F Mount should fit any of the Nikon bodies. It will depend on the type of lens itself as to how many functions you will get. You may get Metering but not AF etc. It may be all manual. It's hard to tell with the information you have given.

Thanks CabanSail, as I know little to nothing about it I'm starting to think my best bet might be to bring them both into Jessops and see what fits.

    Thanks again
