Just wondering is this place easy enough to find once you get to tullamore, is it well signposted as Iv never been before and plan to go mabey this week.

Also do they still allow you to pay in and rent a .22lr like they used to?

If so, does anyone know how much it costs.

    Cheers in Advance.

Don't know about their gun rentals, but as far as getting there is concerned, take the Birr road out of Tullamore, keep heading straight out, pass through Mucklagh, until you come to a crossroads with a pub on the right called The Blue Ball (and in very Irish fashion, it has a big feckin' yellow ball outside), turn right at the Blue Ball, follow the road out around when it turns to the left, head straight out another bit and you'll see the sign at the entrance to Midlands on your right. Handy enough to find if you keep the directions simple.

Thanks for that 'It wasn't me!'.

Anyone else know if they still let you rent the .22lr while your there??

Yes they still do and costs about €27 to include 22lr, insurance 1 6 ring target and 50 rounds of ammo. More ammo @€;4.50ish box of 50

The range is just after the small school (on the left) BUT go slow as you could miss the turn into the range on the right. :D
Your getting close when you can see the big back-stops out to your right.

    Here's the approximate location:

(I say approximate because until the satellite imagery gets updated I can't make sure I got exactly the right spot)

Does anyone know what the opening hours and if non members can show up any day or just certain days?

Unless they've changed the policy very recently (like, in the last week or two), they DON'T do rifle rentals any more.

Might be best to give them a ring before travelling, in order to avoid possible disappointment.

Talk to Jim or Mary at the Tackle Shop, they'll know the details-
    057 9355979.

    Two different places.

The Lakelands Shooting Centre is near Mullingar:
    http://www.lakelandguns.com/aboutshooting.htm

The Midland National Shooting Centre of Ireland (MNSCI) is near Tullamore.
They don't appear to have a website, the NRAI one Sikamick posted above looks to be as close as it gets at the moment.

excellent thanks...i had been in contact with the lakelands recently and it looks like you can still use there guns..

im really intrested in getting into shooting but there doesnt seem to be many places where you can go to try it out before you commit to the expense of it being from limerick the nearest ranges are going to be fermoy or mullingar/tullamore area.it really does seem to be a hard sport to get into

    Hi Rovi & Drifter,

The "Midlands" do have a website, but it's not updated on a regular basis, here it is, try it out.

    http://www.nationalshootingcentre.ie/

    Hope this helped you all.

Thanks for that V Bull, it's not an easy one to find by any means.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 719 ✭✭✭V Bull

    Thanks guys,

Yes, it's a hard one to find all right Rovi.

Pitty it's not updated properly on a regular basis. With all the different types of events that they hold there it could be used as a centre for dispencing valuable shooting information and posting interesting photos and stuff etc.

Take note Mr Website Controler !!!! :D:D

Well have a look at the Midland site and its so oout of date, its a joke. They are looking for members - offer a form - no form. Last competition offered is in 2007 !!!!. ETC. QED.
