what laptops have mobile broadband installed

    what laptops at the moment are configured with mobile broadband(modem or data card already installed)?

    is it possible to buy a broadband sim from the networks in ireland or do you have to buy the modem

    I "think" Dell are selling a mini 9 bundled with a vodafone 3g card installed, but you are tied down to vodafone on a contract.

    I was quite surprised to find that most of the Dell laptops at work have SIM card slots (though no modem installed - they are optional extras). And these are between 1 and 2 years old.

    So, most Dells probably have the option to have them installed at purchase time.

    you can add the modem to most dells.
    i have an m1210 thats about 2 years old with a hsdpa modem installed.

    Anyone know if it's possible to unlock the Dell 3g modems?

    Dell UK are offering a free Vodafone trial at the moment which would allow you to get your hands on the hardware without signing up to a contract. The question is whether you can use a different SIM when the trial expires.

    thanks for the replies. if the dells arent sim locked do any of you know if a broadband sim can be purchased here without getting the modem from the networks
