    Hi,

This is a very specific question but there maybe someone out there who has the answer. I am wondering if the Sligo IT Running Track is open to the general public and what distance is it?

    Thanks in advance

Yes the IT Sligo running track is open to the public. You have to go into reception and get a token to open the gate, I think its round the same price as using the gym and if your a member you can use it anytime. Its unavailable sometimes if theres an event or club training on it.
Track is 400m round the same as every other track.

    Gluck

Hijacking your thread a little here, but do you know if there's any kind of running club not from the college that use the track ? A club for mere mortals though, not elites:) Was always curious about trying it out...

I suggest you contact the Sports and Recreation Department in IT Sligo, they will be able to tell you what clubs are using the track and if it is available for individual use. The contacts in the college who deal with facilities are Gerry Dalton, Facilities Manager Or Ross Lappin At 071 9155211 211, e-mail; dalton.gerry@itsligo.ie Or Ross Lappin At 071 9155211 211, e-mail; dalton.gerry@itsligo.ie. I'm sure they will be able to give you all the information you need.

Sligo AC use the track during the summer months and cater well for non-elites. According to Athletics Ireland website, contact is Mr Terry Hayes 087-2774622.

But if you just want to try it out, you can pay €2 and just run.
