hey guys just a quick one my little sister had an inciddent with her hair and basically it had to be shaved shes really self concious on it to a ridiculous degree shes only young so you know how it is in those years anyways she always wears a hat and never takes it off at a family thing this year a relative took her hat off (didnt know) and my sister burst into tears and ran out but we are thinking of going away in the next few days and my sister is terrified of having to remove her hat at security and at the other countries passport control I am just wondering if she will have to take off her hat when you go through security? I know sometimes they make you take off your shoes but she doesnt want to go cus she doesnt want to have to take off her hat in front of everyone with the ques and everything at dublin airport security pass and shes really upset about whether or not she will have to anyone have any experience? She says she doesnt really mind having to take it off at passport control cause your at the top of the que by that stage and it will be quick.

I am trying to reassure her but dont want to say it will definitely not happen only for it to happen I know it sounds silly but shes really concious about it

How about a head scarf (not a neck scarf) that is more or less smooth with her head?

    Hi OP,
Has any of her hair grown back? If it's longer than 3 inches could she get some hair extensions?
Maybe a wig if her hair is really short or if she's totally bald?
Failing that, a headscarf should do the trick.

Perhaps she might get away with a headscarf or a bandana. Be careful not to wear something that's bulky. I had to remove a scarf going through Dublin Airport security earlier this month.

Ah the poor girl. Where are you travelling to?

I don't know about the story in your destination, but maybe you could go ahead of her in security and have a quiet word with one of the security people and say she's VERY self concious about it and is there any way that they could minimise the time she has to remove it for and to make it as discreet as possible for her.
