has anyone heard anything bout the new law in the usa, where upon arriving at a border control, they can take your laptop away? and examine it, and in some cases could take 10-15 days to get it back?

    see this

i have nothing worthwhile on my laptop, but its the sure, hassle and time wasting associated with it...

just reading the above link, would put anyone off bringing their expensive laptop to the usa!

Is been like that for a while, in the company I work we got a mail about it about a year ago or even longer. Mainly it was to say if you got stopped to cooperate with them and give them all info they need.

Sorry I thought the post was about the law, not about laptops not returned.

In my case it would be a company laptop so no problem if they take it and they keep it and get a new laptop on my return but will do a back-up before I go. Wonder who keeps those laptops.
