For sale. Beautiful country Home. Easy access to local carriageway. May need improved double glazing.

That's mad. A few people on that YouTube comments section are saying it's a myth that he wouldn't move. Can't be nice living there though

That was on TV a year or two ago, the guy was interviewed. It was crazy, he was giving out about it but just refused to move, it was his farm and he didn't want to leave. Fair enough but the noise of the traffic must stress the animals out. Suppose they're used to it.

On the M2 motorway from Belfast to Toom bridge there is a house in between the two lanes. The lanes are wider a part than the one above but i did wonder why the motorway was build around it, plus there are loads of trees so just can hardly see the house from the road.

Doesn't sound right to me. AFAIK our compulsory purchase legislation is modelled on the UK and, under our system, the local authority would have been able to buy it regardless of how the farmer felt about it.

There was a programme on BBC about this fella, he does indeed have a tunnel under the motorway.

I think many farmers have tunnels under roads now if their farms got split in two.

The M2 was going to split in to the M2 and M22 there; they ran out of money. If you look on aerial photos you can see the path for never built lanes; and heading back to Belfast theres a big arse bit of tarmac for where the lanes would have come in. Didn't know there was a house in the middle of it though!

The house in the M62 has NOTHING to do with someone not selling - he'd just have been CPO'ed out of it. The motorways on the side of a hill and so they had to build the lanes further apart - saving that house.
