Am considering buying the Cannondale Bad Boy Disc on evans cycles. Big saving over Dublin retailers. Just wondering what members experience of evans is like. Also, are there any VAT or import tax implications with this kind of purchase?

    Thanks in advance

There are no VAT or import tax issues buying anywhere within the EU (which includes the UK.) Haven't bought from them but have heard good things about Evans and would not hesitate.

    Thanks for that.

Have seen other posts elsewhere speaking highly of them. Its just that it seems too good to be true.

Ha, it is not too good to be true, Sterling is low, UK VAT is low, the online retailers are cheaper anyway and they have very good end of year sales. It is a great time to be buying from the UK. I just got a new bike myself from Wiggle (another UK online retailer) at half EU RRP.

i bought my cannondale capo from evans. they contacted me saying that dues to stock problems the bike i ordered (which was in stock according to their site) wouldn't be sent for 10 days, very sorry etc. the bike arrived 2 days later.:D

bike came with minimal assembly required (attach handle bars and pedals) and a nice little multi-tool. i'd buy from them again.

Have bought from Evans also, some uk forums say their aftersales is poor but I had no issues.

The bad boy is a sweet ride, 10 years ahead of it's time. I've been looking at a Bad Boy 8, but the 09 seems to have moved to the lefty solo fork and I can't see how you could fit mudguards.

Can you put mudguards or a pannier on a bad boy?

+1 no complaints about them at all

you can definitely put a carrier hence a pannier on them.. my bro carries his kid to creche on his.

Not my favourite bike, i think it tries to be too many things.
The city cred of a fixie .. with the robustness of a mountain bike while at the same time light and fast, it also has a very long reach on it .... plus you can spin out on it very very easily as the wheels are so small .. not wanting to ruin anyones buzz that is just my humble opinion.

I saw two of them down in Donnybrook today. One had a Rohloff hub and was sort of falling over so I picked it up to straighten it. Light it is not :D

Not sure you are correct there, are you thinking of the 26 inch wheel versions not the 700c by any chance?

Are there 2 wheels sizes with bad boys?
I amn't referring to one with 700c wheels.

Maybe Evans are good for the big dollar items but I have my doubts about their product codes and online listings.

    I ordered
    W631 Grangers XT Spray-On Proofer £7.82
    W630 Grangers 30 Degree Cleaner £4.88
    Delivery £5.00
Total order value including shipping £17.70

Please note: the products are clearly the "Spray On" cleaner
    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/grangers/xt-spray-on-proofer-ec011940
and the 30 degree cleaner (suitable for waterproof gear)
    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/grangers/30-degree-cleaner-ec011939

    I received

W631 Grangers WASH IN Proofer £7.99
    W630 Grangers 30 Degree BASE Cleaner £4.99

I did ring them and if I post back the products they'll re-imburse me the cost of the original order. Postage to uk €4.85 + cost of packaging.

Clearly somethings wrong with their internal product codes and labelling.
So I'll not be ordering from them again.

If it's their mistake they should pay return postage, most retailers will do this (or indeed just send you out a new item, Wiggle sent me free tyres when they sent the wrong size as it was going to be too expensive to post them back.)

    Blorg, I agree.
I've sent a query to evans.
    I will update thread when/if I get a response

Evans reimbursed purchases costs + postage costs (both ways) to my CC.

I bought my Bianchi from Evans too. They sent it out promptly but neglected to put my address on the box. My phone number was on it, so I got a call from a very confused courier who I could give the address to, but it might very easily have disappeared into the ether. Sent them an e-mail regarding the wisdom of sending out a grand's worth of merchandise without an actual address but did not hear anything back.
