I see Jim Cusack has a few articles in this Sundays Indo, he is taking a fairly large swipe at the new Organised Crime Unit here.
The amount of information in this article suggests:

    (a) Some digruntled Garda that OCU has peed off has had a word in Mr. Cusacks ear.

    (b) He's picked up small bits here and there, put them together and come up with a half page of shyte.

If (b) is true, it's bound to have an effect on morale in a unit like that.

If (a) is true, it's bound to have an effect on morale in a unit like that.

Yeah every garda in the country knew about the tiger kidnap fcuk up. So i wasnt surprised when i read it in the indo.

If it was going to be that high profile i think the ERU should have been involved.

This fella's facts are all over the place.
All members of ocu are appointed detectives and are not on secondment from stations. (i know members in there)
Your right clada, it sounds like some disgruntled d.o is friends with mr. cusack. Sure that unit have had a lot of success that he has failed to report on. Im certain that no trained firearms member would go firing 10 shots for no reason.
Also i don't see how a unit can be blamed for any incident going wrong, surely its an organisations/managements fault, units can only work on what their told.... which is usually drip fed information
This mess up is also the result of cutbacks and shortage of resources, and it looks like ocu are the unit taking the blame for this particular one.
Wonder which unit will get the blame for the next f``k up?
Im nearly certain that Mr.Cusack wrote an article about OCU before because sentences and quotes in this are identical to a previous article i read a few months ago. (apologies on being unable to reference article)
Notebook journalism at its finest by Mr Cusack...... I expected better from The Independent

The solution is robots with artificial intelligence in AGS instead of humans with their proneness to error.

I expected better from The Independent

    You did??:D

He also says that Gardai fired shots at the car when infact they fired warning shots into the air.

Criminal proceedings in this case are ongoing so im going to lock this thread.

The specifics of what happened are a matter for the investigation team, the garda ombudsman, and the judge.

    Thank You.
