Recently i have been getting a lot of pop ups on my mac for everything from US green card applications to poker websites and everything in between. I use Surfthechannel.com and notice i get the poker and green card pop ups esp when on STC.com. However i seem to be getting more pop up when on regular sites such as boards etc. Anyone have any idea what i can do.

    cheers

    Use Firefox and Adblock

    What browser are you using?

In Safari there's an option to block pop up windows.

cheers guys. using safari. If i use fire fox will i have to download any kind of virus protection as i have been led to believe that firefox is more of a PC based browser so while i have it on my mac i dont use it.

Oh and have the pop-up blocker on all the time. I also noticed that when i am on a website that has a image gallery that i sometimes get redirected to a google search page with similar links to the pic i was looking at. So for instance if i was on a band page and clicked on a pic of the band i would be directed to a search page on google.
You will have to excuse my ignorance on this issue and the messy structure of my post(trying to watch Top Gear while doing this)

Pithhelmet will block ads and pop ups on Safari as well.

There is also Adblock for Safari - it works great for me:

I personally adore opera. I also have an older ibook that makes firefox run slow as heck and I can't find a version of safari for it, so I'm biased :D. But no pop-ups, and it (on mine anyways) is probably 4x faster than firefox. Me likey :p
