pc will not see my dvd drives?

    when i go to my computer only one drive is recognized out of 2 and even that one(when i have a dvd in it) states please insert a disc?!?
    anyone help me please?

    its possibley a faulty drive. Can you get your hands on an old one and install it and see if your computer sees that one? Check the device manager and see if the cd drive is hilighted with a yellow question mark.

    With the drive in there , can you do a eject or anything like that ..silly question, you have tried with more than one Cd, long shot but could be disk you are placing in. .. anyways the best shot would be device manager. Another possiblity could be on the IDE settings... with IDE you have a master and secondary device, so on one IDE cable the devices must be (1) master (2) slave. If you have 2 devices with "master" on a single cable then you might get an issue with this. If there are SATA then ignore the IDE issues. Try placing the DVD drive on one IDE cable and see if that is picked up. Maybe swap the IDE cable .. various ways to trouble shoot , bt look also at the cable and the devices on it.
