Well, read the title!!! I'm willing to spend arounf €70 if it's a good pair of mens bib shorts, but less money is always good, so long as they are good! Get what I mean? Cheers :D (P.S. I'm only 5'6 and a half with a 29" waist, so if small sizes are available, all the better!)

Are you a lady or a gent?

I bought my Santini Twist Gel from Prendas Ciclismo. Very good. They have 37 different bib shorts on offer.

If you change your "Preferences" on the main page to Euros you will get an approximate price.

BUMP!! Surely someone can reccomend a goo pair?
P.S. Sorry about this, but what is chamois cream?
Thanks for your help in advance, I really appreciate it! ;)

Any of the following should be fine:
    Campagnolo Heritage
    Gore Power II
    Adidas Adistar
    Gore Ozon

Chamois cream is there to help stop your bum getting saddle sores. Some people swear by it, some don't bother (myself included)

It's very hard to recommend shorts. Most of us bought lots of different ones before finding the one pair that are the most comfortable for us.

As for the chamois cream ... there is a great thing that people use a lot nowadays ... it's called ' Google' and will have the best answers to most of your questions ...
    :D

How would these compare to a pair of Giordana (dont know what model) for €70 in my LBS or De Marchi Contour Plus for €62 online (see link) with 40% off!!

Giordana and De Marchi are both good brands. Possibly worth going with the LBS if it is your first pair and you are not sure of sizing. Note that "continental" sizing tends to be smaller than Anglophone brands. I am a big fan of Descente stuff myself.

If it is for this time of year you should probably consider tights. Wiggle have a pair on offer right now or alternatively their dhb stuff is decent for the price.

Ya, I'll probably stick to the LBS this time for sizing! I was thinking of getting either bib tights or leg warmers. I am finding it difficult to get tights small enough to fit me, what to you think of leg warmers (nice and long, skin tight but €30)
P.S. I got bib-tights in my size but they ripped at the seam and had to take them back!

Leg warmers are a good idea and versatile but not as comfortable (or as warm) as bib tights. May well do you if you are starting off though.

I have the adidas ones and after moderate use they have a big wear patch on the inside right leg. On the one hand it was good to know I'm sitting lop-sided on the bike but really I would have expected a bit more durability.

I'm very happy with the dhb ones (the merston, or whichever is their top one). The small/medium would fit you.

    I got a pair of these :

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Campagnolo_Raytech_Shield_Bibshorts/5360035406/

and find them really good, comfy and very well made, just bear in mind the reflective stripes will peel off after a while but you wouldn't know they were there in the first place.

Went for Assos leg and knee warmers for the various weather conditions and am perfectly warm, even these days.

I got a pair of Sportful bib shorts for €44/pair. Love'em. Would love to get my hands on the shorts version.

I have a pair of Cannondale bib shorts and fine them grand. I got them off CRC at a reasonable price. They're probably something similar to these (I think it's summer weight I have but they're fairly comfy even in cold-ish weather):

In cold weather I twin them with a pair of Endura legwarmers:

Bib tights would probably be better, as blorg said, but if you're on a budget then the bibshorts+legwarmers option is good.

Doesn't look as if that stuff keeps you all that warm, to be honest...

Right, next up is a trip to the LBS but if that fails, what should I do? I have been looking at the following:
    • Cannondale Domestique 8 Panel Bibshorts 7M255 Winter 2007 for €38.45 here on CRC (43% off, saw them here for €76.50)
    • Cannondale Le Carbon 10 Panel Bibshort 7M250 Winter 2007 for €55.54 here on CRC (42% off, saw them here for €101.25)

Anyone used or heard of Cannondale bib-shorts? Is so, let me know! Cheers :D

Jeez man, I'd hate to see you deciding on a bike if it takes this long for shorts :P
Cannondale carbon shorts are pretty good. I've had a pair for a couple of years and they are still very comfortable. Some cheaper Cannondale shorts I own have lost their comfort. The only pair I'd consider again are the carbon ones.

Trip to the LBS today! I got my replacement bib tights and finally found a pair of decent bib shorts that fit me well, Giordana Tenax Laser. I also got some BBB Waterflex overshoes, really nice design and quality, I got got the 41/12 hoping for a tight fit but it looks as if they are about to rip. Hopefully the 42/43 won't be too big. I also picked up a pair of BBB Raceshield winter gloves. They are just what I was looking for, skin tight full-finger winter gloves, just lovely! I'm happy now, all set up for the cold weather. Now it's time to get out there and put in some decent miles, I ordered a Polar CS200 Cadence also, so I can hop on the trainer when it gets really bad out! Thanks for all the advice guys, sorry if i was a pain in the ass! Good luck

How do you guys wash bib shorts with a good chamois? Do you machine wash them (if so, what temperature) or do you have to hand wash them? Maybe thats what chamois cream is for (what is chamois cream for?).

I'm confused as you can see, please help! Cheers ;)

the cream is for wiping on your posterior/the chamois.
I wash my shorts at 30 degrees, when I remember to change the temperature setting.

    Seriously comfy.
    Very good value.
    Great colour.

    What more do you need.

Would the Euro rules allow wearing of the Campy bib shorts if your bikes don't have any Campy parts on them?

I was advised by a Cyclelogical mechanic that it is forbidden.
