Hi, can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have a pc & Santa brought me an Imac :D:D:D:D:D:D

Can anyone suggest the quickest & simplest way of transferring files from PC?

I have set the Pc to share and the imac recognises the pc.

    Thanks ,

    Dave

Welcome to the safe and loving world of Mac; feel free to ask any question you need to and we'll all do our best to help you out :)

Have a look at a few of these options, good man. Some of them may cost you a few € so think carefully before you spend or do anything hasty.

I'm not understanding the problem, if the PC is sharing and the mac can see it then drag and drop.........or, mount the share with:

Command (AKA Apple Key) + k
    smb://ipaddress of pc

I found the file transfer processs fiddly. It took ages for my iMac to see my PC. I got it to work by connecting my Windows PC and iMac each to a router. Then my iMac was able to see my PC as a network drive and I was able to set up drag and drop folder.

I'd recommend buying an external hard-drive for the job. It'll make it easier and you'll need one for Time Machine anyway.
