Warhawk(ps3) is a great game, and has troop and ground vehicles aswell, but its online only.

Warhawk(ps1) is just a flight sim, but it is only 1 player and has 6 levels, which is useless.

Ace Combat 5 for the PS2, the best AC game in the series. Its not a sim by any means but its the best flight game on any console. There's about 50+ fighters including variants.

If you like that see if you can get AC 4 and Zero on the cheap, I still play them on the PS3 and they are better than Ace Combat 6 with its childish and silly story on the 360.

Flightsims and consoles just don't go together OP.

Blazing angels is fun - may not be what you are looking for though (uses the six axis to control the plane which is pretty good)

I haven't played the new Ace Combat yet but that series has alway been arcade over sim.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey however is coming to PS3 and 360 very soon. From the trailer it looks excellent and it's PC brother is a good indication of how realistic gameplay-wise it should be. Of course, how much they take away transfering to console is the question. But from the previews I've read so far they seem to be going for a full-on simulator option.
