I plan on going down to the Dole office in January to see if i can claim Jobseekers Benefit. I have been unable to get a job for the last many months. I left college in June 2007, worked from Sept 1st 07 to May 2nd 08, and am wondering if i have enough PRSI contributions to claim benefit and not allowance. Also, what if i no longer have my P45??

With that amount of contributions I doubt it but it will be an officer who checks this for you. It's close to the criteria for benefit but more info needed

You may/will be entitled to Job Seekers Allowance.
You been unemployed since May and haven't claimed?

Get down your local SW office and sort this immediately.

What other info is needed? I applied for Job Seekers Benefit back in may when i became unemployed, but i was refused JSB because i did not have enough contributions from 2006, i didn't realise that they worked it two years back. I didn't bother applying for JSA as i knew it was means tested, and from working i had a lot of savings and a car.
